Madonna’s highly-anticipated Celebration tour has been postponed due to the singer’s hospitalization caused by a “serious bacterial infection,” as shared in an Instagram post by her manager, Guy Oseary.

Originally scheduled to commence in Vancouver on July 15, the tour’s start date and rescheduled shows will be announced at a later time, once Madonna has fully recovered from her health setback.

The global tour, spanning 35 cities, aimed to be a grand retrospective of Madonna’s remarkable career spanning over 40 years, showcasing her unparalleled musical catalog.

The tour was set to visit major US cities like Detroit, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles before embarking on an 11-date European leg, concluding in North America in January 2024. The announcement of the tour preceded the unfortunate news that a biopic about Madonn’a, in development with Universal Pictures since 2020, was ultimately abandoned.

The film, which garnered attention for its reportedly demanding audition process, was originally intended to be directed by Madonn’a herself, with Julia Garner from Ozark set to portray the iconic pop singer. In late 2020, Madonna underwent hip replacement surgery following an injury sustained during her Madame X tour.
